Shoulder Pain Specialists
Get Started Today
Shoulder pain is one of the hardest joint problems to sort out because so many different structures can cause it — the rotator cuff, the labrum, the AC joint, the biceps tendon, the bursa, or even referred pain from your neck. Get the diagnosis wrong and every treatment that follows is a coin flip.
OUR APPROACH
What it means to see a real shoulder specialist
We find out what's actually wrong first
Non-surgical
HOW IT WORKS
Your first visit
- Full shoulder history, including injury mechanism, prior treatments, and what makes it worse
- Hands-on exam with provocative testing to localize the pain generator
- In-office diagnostic x-ray and ultrasound of the rotator cuff, biceps tendon, bursa, and joint
- Review of prior MRI or X-ray imaging
- Clear explanation of what we found and why
- A staged treatment plan — conservative first, progressing only if needed

TARGETED HEALING
Shoulder conditions we treat
Rotator cuff tears and tendinopathy
Partial tears and chronic tendinopathies often don’t need surgery. PRP, cellular therapy, shockwave, and targeted PT can drive real structural repair.
Shoulder impingement syndrome
Pain with overhead reaching usually comes from mechanical and soft tissue causes that respond well to image-guided injections paired with corrective PT.
Bursitis
Ultrasound-guided bursal injections combined with shockwave or photobiomodulation can calm inflammation and prevent recurrence.
Biceps tendinopathy
A commonly missed cause of anterior shoulder pain. Precise diagnosis and targeted treatment makes a dramatic difference.
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
A progressive, multi-phase condition that needs a specific staged approach — the wrong treatment at the wrong phase makes it worse.
Shoulder arthritis
Image-guided joint injections and structured rehabilitation can meaningfully reduce pain and preserve or even restore function.
Shoulder instability
Strengthening protocols combined with targeted care can help restore stability in many cases.
Referred pain from the neck
A significant percentage of “shoulder pain” is actually cervical. We check for this routinely.
PRECISE FIT
Is Compass the right place for your shoulder?
You're a good fit if
- Your shoulder pain has lasted more than a few weeks
- PT and home exercises haven’t fixed it
- You’ve been told you need surgery but want to explore non-surgical options first
- You had surgery and still have pain
- You want a real diagnosis, not another cortisone shot

You may need a surgeon if
• You have recurrent dislocations with structural damage beyond what regenerative medicine is capable of repairing
WHY COMPASS
Why patients choose us for shoulder care
Ultrasound in the exam room
We use diagnostic ultrasound at your first visit. For shoulders, it’s the single most important tool for sorting out soft tissue injuries that MRIs miss or misread—and the most underutilized tool in most pain practices.
Image-guided injections
Injecting the shoulder without image guidance is like aiming blindfolded. We inject under ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance every time, into the exact structure we’re treating — so medicine lands where it’s supposed to.
A full recovery plan, not just a procedure
A shoulder procedure is the start, not the end. Every treatment plan includes a recovery and progressive strengthening protocol built by physical therapists who work alongside your physician. That’s the difference between short-term relief and a shoulder that actually stays better. Recovery may also include shockwave, peptide therapy, redlight and PEMF to ensure adequate rehabilitation.
Honest assessments
If you don’t need a procedure, we’ll tell you. If surgery is genuinely the right answer, we’ll tell you that too. Our job is to get your shoulder better, not to talk you into treatment.

I just walked out of my first appointment with Dr. Balog. Super impressed with his attention to detail he took the time to listen to my concerns and established a plan to move forward that made me feel heard. I completely recommend him! Staff is also amazing. This place is on it!

I had the best treatment and care that I have ever received for the pain I’ve been experiencing. Prior doctors I’ve been to have only treated symptoms, but never the root cause. The doctors here thoroughly went through my history, trying to discover the medical cause of my pains versus simply attempting to treat the symptoms. I cannot recommend enough.

My initial consultation visit was a very good experience with the doctor and PA. I feel they were very thorough in their approach to beginning a diagnosis and very efficient in getting the program rolling. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

WONDERFUL! KNOWLEDGEABLE! COMPASSIONATE! LIFE SAVERS! I will always be grateful for what this staff did for me. I was in so much intense pain when I came here. For the first time in over a year, I’m able to stand up straight and walk without cringing and moaning with every step. After my treatment, I was in tears of happiness. My neverending thanks and appreciation to all of you!
